Dream Swatch Knitalong

And we're off! I started mine, but I'm not sure I'm in love with the yarn I chose - let me know what you think in the comments!
Materials:
Yarn: Reynolds Soft Sea Wool in Black.
Needles: US6

The yarn is lovely to work with, but doesn't really highlight the cool long stitches. What do you think?

on that background it looks like stained glass! :D

I think it looks neat. Although, the camera's flash may give it more definition than it has in real life.

Your stitches are beautiful! I don't think that the black yarn will show that very well though. That's the same sad realization I had after knitting a lace shawl-swatch for 3 hrs in black yarn on Friday...

I agree. It's really pretty, but sadly doesn't convey the pattern very well. If it were me, I'd keep knitting this one, though. To be honest, I like the way it looks, even without the clear definition of the long stitches.

Thanks all for your feedback! I'm going to leave it and put it in the WIP basket and maybe come back to it, and then I am going to cast on a new one in a different yarn and see how that looks!

I think it shows the lack of st--the holes--wonderfully (especially if you have light hair), which is as important with this pattern as is stitch definition. It almost looks like a different, really pretty, pattern
